Head Start

HEAD START AND EARLY HEAD START

headstart

The program is administered by the Office of Head Start through the U.S Department of Health & Human Services  for Children & Families (ACF).

The HS & EHS Program focuses on providing services to primarily low-income families, and children with disabilities. Our programs aim to promote school readiness, parent/family involvement, healthy child development, and healthy family functioning.

Part of the philosophy is that parents are the primary educators of their children. Therefore, HS & EHS provides opportunities for parents to actively involved with their children’s educational experience. Opportunities include classroom/ center activities and events, volunteering, Parent committee, and Policy council.

We also serve families by helping them to set and accomplish goals through Family Partnership Agreements, parent trainings, and making referrals to other community programs.

HS centers (ages 3-5) are located in Agency Village, SD and Waubay, SD. The EHS (ages 0-3) is located in Agency Village, SD.
