The Public Defender’s Office provides legal help to tribal members who are accused of crimes and cannot afford an attorney. We also provide legal help to tribal members who cannot afford counsel and are facing certain other matters, such as juvenile delinquency, civil commitment, child support, and eviction from tribal housing. The Public Defender’s Office provides representation in tribal court, federal court, and the various state courts adjoining the Lake Traverse Reservation.
Adam Bridge has served as the Tribe’s Public Defender since 2007.
Evelyn Akipa has been with the Public Defender’s Office since 2003.
Kathryn White has worked at the Public Defender’s Office since 2007.
